You are about to enter the 2021 depression nest of Lana MacKenna.
The hobbies are REAL. The insanity is REAL. The rulings are FINAL.
This, was a complete waste of my money.

podcasting
I did an episode for my gal Hayley’s podcast here when I was first diagnosed and found I really enjoyed having a chitty chat, which will come to a surprise to literally no one. I even did an Astrology podcast with a few pals when I was deeply involved w Astro (we lasted 1 season because it was just TOO MUCH with all our stuff going on + covid). In conclusion: Love a yarn

Painting
Let me tell you. I have tried painting. God knows. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I assumed I would be a natural at it (I have never had trouble in the ideas department) but like every scam, I (Mitch) would invest heaps into my creative endeavours and I just ended up pretend to like it. Its not a ~mindful practice~ when you’ve just been diagnosed with terminal cancer - sorrynotsorry.
The best thing that came from this was we silently came to the decision to try whatever I was into for the first time, get the $5 Kmart version before investing my (again, Mitchell’s) hard earned cash into it.
Will say though don’t hate a wee draw on the pastels. Seems quicker and less of a commitment.
CRAFTS

SEWING
This was excellent fun with my grandma Cass, but we both quickly lost interest because we would get too busy chit chatting about being a woman in the 50’s. I reckon if I needed to do a hem or alter something a little I could fluke my way through it but would defs need someone to set me up like those baby queens on literally every season of RPDR
knitting
During lockdown when we were still in our spiritual home of Fitzroy, Arnold and I would go to Edinburgh Gardens and I’d sit in the sunshine and knit a wee scarf for a friend and I learnt this on YT! Of watching one video 40 times! Incredible! A great craft to take to chemo also - you will be welcomed into the knitting community whomst are a DREAM.
COOKING
L O V E cooking meals with my partner. Obviously during lockdowns we tried heaps of stuff that we have both deemed “too hot & rich” for our warmer climate. Literally the first the only time I will say thats a bad thing but I am both hehehe

pottery
Love ceramics, love the classroom atmos of learning how to sculpt (that means modelling the clay as those of us in the know call it). However, hate what making it does to my hands and nails so chose nails over ceramics. Lots of fun though!
NOT
embroidery
My hands shake too much now and I’ve come too far in my journey to throw it all away over a $5 “Be kind” kit from Kmart when I could buy a much funnier one on Etsy. Too bad so sad. T’was great fun when watching Survivor though.
Baking
This is as far as I got with baking. Oh, theres no picture? V strangé but I guess that’s because I simply do not bother with the activity. I understand theres something sOoOoO soothing re measuring sugars and flours and whatever the hell else goes into a carrot cake but again, not for me. Way too fiddly for these salt & pepper shaker hands - and what are you left with! An entire cake for yourself? Thats just a red rag to a bull I’m afraid.
spy
Look normally I’m all for a little bit of drama/gossip/ espionage but the current bullshit w Russia and Ukraine is horrific. No one is interested in the murder of innocent people because you’ve lost your mind wanting to reinstate Russian Tsar’s Pootin you dog.
